ProblemsTroubled by antisocial behaviour, residents at Magnolia Drive were looking for a solution. Local resident Terry Marshall said, "At the time, we were having major problems with kids hanging about and junkies leaving needles everywhere." UnusedThe communal garden was not used by residents, despite being maintained. Resident Involvement Officer Nevina Williams said, "People wanted to things to change. And we were there to help them." |
David Haslem, who along with Terry came up with the idea for the garden, approached us asking for help. They wanted to transform it into a vegetable garden but they needed financial help to do it. Nevina Williams said, "The Community Initiatives Fund is there to help people who have an idea about how they want to change things for the better." We gave them money for a greenhouse.
We approached Colchester Borough Council to see if they could help. They were keen to get involved, and landscaped the garden for the residents.

We recently gave money to the Stanway Youth Forum to put on a skating event to see if there was a need for a permanent skate park. We now need your ideas on what we can do to help you?" |
