Help With Applying
This was set up two years ago. The idea is to give money to projects which benefit the community. It is run by the tenants and leaseholders Anti-Social Behaviour Workgroup. This group was set up to reduce the amount of problems caused by anti-social behaviour.
And that's where you come in. If you live in Colchester, and are one of our tenants or leaseholders, then we want to hear from you.
You need to fill our application form. We will only consider your proposal if you fill in our form. When you fill in the form, you must make sure that you read our guidance notes, because you need to make sure that you fill in the form correctly. We can send an application form in the post.
When you fill in the form, you may need to show that you have consulted with local residents, to show that your proposal has the support of the community.
For example, we gave £500 to the Stanway Youth Forum, who carried out a Skate Park day. The aim of the day was to find out what the level of interest was in having a permanent skate park.
In the application form, they showed that they already had the support of the police, council, and other bodies. This is important, because when make a decision about a project we have to find out what its impact on the local community will be.
We may also ask you to submit photos to us. Again, this is to help us make a decision about your idea.
We will also want to know how much you think your idea will cost. We might ask you to provide us with at least three different quotes for any work that needs to be carried out. Whether we need this will depend on your proposal.
The form will be checked by our Resident Involvement Officer, Nevina Williams. She will work with you to make sure that the form is filled in properly, and let you know if there is anything else you need to give to us.
Once this is complete, the Community Projects Fund Workgroup looks at the application, and decides if it should get funding. The workgroup is an offshoot of the Anti-Social Behaviour Workgroup. It contains five members who are tenants or leaseholders, and the Resident Involvement Officer, Nevina Williams.
When the Community Projects Fund Workgroup considers applications, it will give priority to ones which improve residents quality of life. We don't necessarily give repeat applications a high priority.
The Community Projects Fund Workgroup may also want to visit the area of the proposed project, before making a decision.
When we make a decision, we will write to you to let you know.
The Community Projects Fund Workgroup may want to see the completed project. We might also to cover the scheme in our magazine, Housing News and Views.
Our Resident Involvement Officer, Nevina Williams, is there to help you every step of the way. You can use her contact details to get in touch if you have any questions, or need any help. She can also send you an application in the post.
