Our Cleaning Service
Cleaning Services over Christmas and New Year
The last day of cleaning is 24th December and services will resume as normal on 4th January 2010. All blocks will have been cleaned as scheduled up to and including 24th December and additional hours will be worked in January to catch up to schedule after the holidays.
New Cleaning Service from 2nd November 2009
What We Have Done
We have now completed the Tender Process and a new Contractor has been selected following a rigorous procedure that involved interviewing a short list of four potential contractors from an original application base of over 30. On the Interview panel were two representatives of Colchester Borough Homes Ltd., together with a Tenant and a Leaseholder.
The selected contractor is Interclean EMS a company with an excellent track record and experience in contracting in the Social Housing Sector. Interclean offered the Best Value Solution for CBH and our customers.
We are committed to improving the cleaning service. As the contractor is new to our area, it will take them a few months to settle in. We ask you to be patient whilst they get used to the different types of buildings that Colchester Borough Council have in their housing stock. However CBH believe that the new contract will provide a better and consistent service, and we will be closely monitoring performance.
The New Service – What You Will Receive
Two Storey Blocks
Communal areas will be cleaned monthly. All communal and flat's windows will be cleaned quarterly, as they are now.
Three Storey Blocks
We propose to clean them once a fortnight, which will give residents a better service. All communal windows will be cleaned every two months, as they are now.

Deep Cleaning
We plan to have a rolling programme of Deep Cleans over the four year period of the contract. Each block should be deep cleaned at least once during the duration of the contract. There will be no Deep Cleaning during the period November to March due to weather conditions at that time of year which have an implication regarding Health and Safety for both the Residents and Contractors. You will be contacted to inform you of the date your block will be Deep Cleaned.
Your Responsibility
The cleaning service is an ‘add-on‘ service and therefore it is still the responsibility of the residents to keep their communal area clean and tidy. The cleaning service is there to aid this process. This is outlined in your Tenancy Agreement/Leaseholder's Handbook
A letter is being sent to all residents outlining the new system and their responsibilities more fully, and including details of planned Public Meetings - or you can check the Events Page for details of these meetings.
