Colchester Borough Homes is hosting a special Question Time event at the University of Essex on 24 September 2009. The subject of the debate will be the future of housing in Colchester. The event will bring together local residents, housing providers and councillors, with national, local and regional housing professionals.
The guest speaker at the event will be Wayne Hemingway MBE, who is Professor of Built Environment at Northumbria University. Since Red or Dead, Wayne has turned from fashion to social housing and the built environment.
Working alongside developers and local authorities his focus is on affordable homes and regenerating unpopular areas. He will talk about the importance of good design in housing and community development.
The Question Time debate will then follow. This is will be chaired by Dr. Tony Rich from University of Essex. On the panel will be:
| Wayne Hemingway | |
| Greg Falvey | Chief Executive, Colchester Borough Homes |
| Chris Spencer | Regional Campaign Officer, SHELTER |
| Deborah Ilott | Tenant Services Authority |
| Naisha Polaine | Homes and Communities Agency |
| Rt Rev Christopher Morgan | Bishop of Colchester |
The organiser of the event Community Involvement Manager, Gill Thomson, says “This promises to be an exciting and enjoyable event. There are lots of important issues affecting housing at the moment – particularly with the recession affecting so many people and companies. Social housing in particular is likely to be under increased pressure for the next few years.”
“If you have a question you would like to put to the panel, or are interested in being in the audience, then please contact me on 01206 507897.”
