Colchester Borough Homes has retained Investors in People status, following an inspection in June. The IiP standard has been around for nearly twenty years. It aims to improve the performance of companies, by helping them invest in and develop their staff. Colchester Borough Homes was first accredited in 2003. It was re-inspected in 2006.
Over 35,000 organisations with over seven million employees have reached the IiP standard. 74% of employers recognised by Investors in People say it helps to raise the skill levels of staff.
Research by the Cranfield School of Management shows that organisations with IiP are more likely to achieve their goals and meet strategic objectives. It also shows that companies with IiP have higher levels of trust, co-operation and commitment among employees than their competitors.
The Confederation of British Industry says that over half of board-level executives in firms believe that one of the main benefits of IiP is to improve staff morale. Other research by the CBI showed IiP helps organisations undergoing significant
or rapid change.
