The Cannons was opened in 1984 and is an extra-care sheltered housing scheme made up of 34 bungalows. Extra-care enables frail older people to live in their own self-contained accommodation with individual care packages provided, subject to an assessment by Social Services. Social Services care staff are on site to provide care for tenants with an assessed need.
The staff at The Cannons respect the right of the individual to privacy and seek to promote independent living by working with families, health staff, Social Services and voluntary agencies.

Communal Facilities
A CCTV system is installed at the Cannons and is monitored by the Scheme Manager. There is a door entry system at the main entrance to the scheme. This security feature enables you to identify any visitors before you allow them onto the site. You can
relax in your home knowing it is safe.
A small car park provides limited parking for tenants and their visitors. Friends or relatives who wish to stay can use one of the two fully furnished guest rooms. A single or double room is available. You can enjoy social and recreational activities in the spacious lounge. Chairs and tables are provided in the landscaped gardens. The Cannons has a wellequipped laundry room.
For your convenience a baker calls twice a week and a greengrocer calls once a week. For a small charge you have the option of a midday meal every day. A mobile hairdresser calls regularly and uses the hairdressing salon in the scheme. A church service and communion are held monthly at the scheme, if you wish to take part.
A 24-hour alarm call system is fitted to all the properties in the scheme. This links you to the Scheme Manager or Helpline when the Scheme Manager is off duty. The alarm call system offers you the reassurance that help is always available if you need it.
Social Activities
As part of their professional service the Scheme Manager will arrange a programme of social events and outings in consultation with tenants. Whilst this is an opportunity to socialise and make new friends there is no pressure on you to take part in any of these activities.

Rent and Service Charges
The rent will vary depending upon the size of property you are offered. The weekly rent for the majority of the properties at The Cannons includes a service charge element as well as charges for gas, electricity, water rates, the services of the Scheme Manager and Helpline. The rent for just four bungalows is exclusive of gas, electricity and water rates.
