Walnut Tree House was built in 1971 and received a major re-furbishment in 2006. It is made up of 19 one and two-bedroom flats in a two-storey building with a lift between floors. The scheme offers comfortable, convenient and secure accommodation where you can enjoy your privacy and independence.

Communal Facilities
A door entry system is fitted at the main entrance of Walnut Tree House. This security feature enables you to identify any visitors before you allow them into the building. You can relax in you home knowing it is safe.
A car park is available for tenants and their visitors. If friends and relatives wish to stay a fully furnished guest room is available. You can enjoy social and recreational activities in the lounge, which has its own kitchen. Seating is provided in the landscaped garden.
Walnut Tree House is the first Colchester Borough Homes sheltered scheme to have its own IT room for tenant usage. Other facilities include a scooter store and a conservatory.
If you enjoy reading the mobile library calls twice a month with a wide variety of books including large print.
A 24-hour alarm call system is fitted to all the properties in the scheme. This links you to the Scheme Manager or Helpline when the Scheme Manager is off duty. The alarm call system offers you the reassurance that help is always available if you need it.
Social Activities
As part of their professional service the Scheme Manager will arrange a programme of social events and outings in consultation with tenants. Whilst this is an opportunity to socialise and make new friends there is no pressure on you to take part in any of these activities.
