Are There Any Properties Which You Cannot Buy?

  • You cannot buy sheltered accommodation.
  • You cannot buy a property that has been specially adapted for disabled use.
  • You cannot buy army accommodation, any property on school grounds or any home linked to your employment.
  • If your home is scheduled for possible demolition the Council may serve an Initial Demolition Notice which can suspend the Right to Buy for up to 5 years. If demolition is planned within 2 years then we may serve a Final Demolition Notice which will end your Right to Buy.
