Home Support Service
Home Support is a free service for tenants and home owners aged 60 and over who live within the Borough of Colchester. It provides short term help to enable people to maintain their homes and to live independently within the community.
Home Support will assist with:
- A level of support that can be adapted to meet individual needs
- Helping people to identify individual aims and goals
- Life skills such as cooking, shopping and cleaning
- Encouraging social interaction
- Arranging long term care
- Arranging prescription delivery/collection and remind to take medication
- Monitoring health and well being Home Support
- Budget planning
- Completing forms
- Gaining access to appropriate services
- Encouraging people to attend appointments
Home Support will not provide:
- Personal Care
- Ironing
- Gardening
- Decorating
- Acting as Home Carers
- Provide nursing
- Give drugs or medicines
- Take responsibility for valuables or the security of your home
- Act as a night-sitting service
How can you be referred to Home Support?
Referrals to the Home Support Scheme can be made by the person requiring support or someone else such as family, GP or Social
Worker with your consent. After the referral is made, the Home Support Co-ordinator will contact you and if Home Support could be beneficial, she will arrange to visit you to do a full assessment.
